Pandemik COVID-19 telah menyoroti kepentingan sistem kesihatan awam yang berkualiti tinggi, terutamanya keupayaan negeri untuk menjalankan pengesanan kontak dan pengedaran vaksin. Malah di luar pandemik, keupayaan Indiana untuk mencegah penyakit dan memimpin komuniti kita melalui kecemasan kesihatan awam akan memberi kesan dramatik terhadap kesejahteraan Hoosiers. Bukti menunjukkan bahawa pelaburan dalam kesihatan awam dikaitkan dengan jangka hayat yang lebih panjang dan perbelanjaan yang lebih rendah untuk penjagaan kesihatan.
