En 2016, la Fondation Richard M. Fairbanks a publi\u00e9 un rapport montrant que l'Indiana \u00e9tait parmi les \u00c9tats les plus durement touch\u00e9s par la crise des opio\u00efdes. En 2014, plus de 1\u00a0100 Hoosiers sont morts d\u2019une intoxication m\u00e9dicamenteuse, soit plus que le nombre de d\u00e9c\u00e8s dus \u00e0 des accidents de voiture. Et dans le comt\u00e9 de Marion, 355 personnes sont mortes d\u2019une overdose de drogue l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, selon les donn\u00e9es pr\u00e9liminaires. La grande majorit\u00e9 de ces d\u00e9c\u00e8s peuvent \u00eatre attribu\u00e9s aux opio\u00efdes. En fait, dans le comt\u00e9 de Marion, des donn\u00e9es toxicologiques d\u00e9taill\u00e9es indiquent que les opio\u00efdes \u00e9taient responsables de 81 pour cent des d\u00e9c\u00e8s par surdose.
